WHAT IS FUTSAL?

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided game that originates from South America and has been played since the 1930s. It is widely played across the world, and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA.

The game's essence highlights the importance of technical skills and performance under intense pressure, making it a great environment for honing capabilities that can be applied to 11-a-side football.

Numerous world-class footballers attribute part of their footballing development in football to their experiences playing Futsal during their youth.

Legendary players like Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Lionel Messi, among others, from South America have all participated in Futsal, and appreciated the positive effect it had on their skill development.

This sport has not only contributed to the rise of South American football stars but has also been recognised in the development of skills for European players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Cesc Fabregas, and many more.

Futsal's unique characteristics, like a smaller pitch, distinct markings, and a smaller, heavier ball, enhance young players' technical skills by increasing ball touches and practicing individual skills under pressure.

The game encourages quick decision-making, skillful moves, strategic passes, and places added importance on the ability to retain possession to outplay opposition.
